21-11-1995 - Due to technical difficulties Michael Schumacher could only drive four laps in the new Ferrari in the first official test-drive session at Estoril (Portugal) today. The German race-driver said: "This doesn't worry me at all. I have driven very careful and I wasn't looking for great lap-times." 22-11-1995 - Well, it's not working for Schumacher. At day 2 of the first official test-drives at Estoril (Portugal) Schumacher come no further than half a lap. The engine of his Ferrari quitted after the electronics of the car broke down. He had to park his new Ferrari in the grass. Schumacher said: "We have to test as much as we can." He also said he had to "learn" the team and learn to communicate with the team-members so everybody understands each other. Than you'll get a well organised group of people who are one, like the Benneton Team was last year. He also stated that he doesn't believe to have any chance to become word champion for the third time in 1996. He also went out in the 1995 model Ferrari and drove the third best time, first was Jean Alesi in the Benneton and second was the new driver for Williams in 1996 Villeneuve. Later on Villeneuve was quickest (1:22.80) followed by Schumacher (1:23.24). Schumacher has some problems adjusting to the cockpit of the Ferrari. All three teams will continue testing at Estoril until Friday. One thing is for sure the two time word champion has to work hard for the many millions he is going to earn. 23-11-1995 - It now took 17 laps for the Ferrari of world champion Michael Schumacher to brake down on the third day of testing at Estoril (Portugal). The engine was not fit enough to take Schumacher round the circuit plenty of times so that real development could take place for 1996. Of course working on the engine so that it runs properly is also progress. Schumacher said: " It can sometimes happen that an engine brakes down." Maybe the Ferrari team needs to consider buying a Renault engine to ensure reliability. Schumacher also drove in the V-12 1995 car, just as he did in second day at Estoril. He came to his personal best until now of 1.22:78, but Villeneuve was again faster. Gerhard Berger crashed his car new car today at his first official test- drive for his new team: Benneton Renault. Luckily he was not hurt. Berger said: "I suddenly lost control, perhaps it was a bump on the track. The rear right-hand wheel just missed my head." 24-11-1995 - Schumacher again had problems today. He could only drive 31 of the planned 45 laps on the Estoril circuit. The propulsion of the car broke down. But before that he constantly drove fast laps. Ferrari has stopped the test-session, they will continue testing in December also at Estoril. Benneton has prematurely stopped their test-session after Bergers crash. Berger said about the crash: "This was the worst crash of my career." He also had a severe crash at Imola a couple of years ago. Than the car went up in flames. So the crash he had now must be a bad one.
