- After his enormous crash during the last training session at Estoril (Portugal) Gerhard Berger does it again. He lost control over his Benetton- Renault at a speed of 180 km/h on the wet circuit and crashed his car into the safety rails. The Benetton suffered severe rear damage, but fortunately Berger was not hurt. Villeneuve was fastest today followed by his team-mate. He has 60 engineers and mechanics, three cars and six engines at his disposal. The chief-mechanic Bernad has said: "Since it is clear that Michael is driving for us, every budget is granted."
