Hill is seeking a home win at the British Grand prix this weekend. He failed to finish last year because a overtaking manoeuvre he made on Schumacher put them both in the gravel trap. Hill will be supported by thousands of fans this weekend: "They support me all over the world. I know a lot of them can't travel overseas so I want to do my best and so something special if I can. (...) I have said for weeks that all I want is to win the British Grand prix."

A fellow Brit and last year's team-mate of Damon by the name of David Coulthard is also longing for a win at Silverstone. A technical fault put him out of the race last year. Coulthard stated: "It would be a dream come true to win at Silverstone. Marlboro McLaren may not be the firm favourites, but we can be in with a good chance of a win if the front runners have slightest problems." (This is also how Johnny Herbert won last year at Silverstone, because all the front runners went out of the race and he didn't even have to fight someone for the win.)
