Emerson Fittipaldi, is expected to make a full recovery after his horrific IndyCar crash. The 1972 and 1974 World Champion, underwent 5 hours of surgery in Florida to repair a fracture of the seventh cervical vertebra. Dr Barth Gree said that "The same injury most often would paralyze people. Very few people with that injury are walking today, he came a millimeter away from being quadriplegic."

Doctors say that Fittipaldi should make a full recovery though he will not be able to return to racing this season.
