Wurz test driver for Benetton; Ferrari news

Alexander Wurz will be the test driver for the Benetton-Renault team next year. This will become official during the 1997 team presentation. Wurz will also be driving in the F3000 team Supernova as their number one pilot.

Nicola Larini was testing at the Fiorano (Italy) circuit today. He tried out new mechanical parts to be used on the 1997 car on the standard 1996 F 310. He completed 66 laps with a best time of 1m 02.36s.

The Ferrari team have now completely broken up the negotiations with the Sauber team regarding selling V10 technical information. A Ferrari spokesman said: "It is impossible to continue negotiating if everything is presented as being perfect when there are still details to talk about."

Michael Schumacher wants to work with two former Benetton employees, if possible. There are some newspapers reporting that Chief Constructor Ross Brawn will go to Ferrari next season. Rory Byrne, who does the aerodynamic work for Benetton, has also been linked to the team.
