The three track officials, Federico Bendinelli, Roland Bruynseraede, and Giorgio Poggi, were to appear at the Senna trial today. The first two were present but Poggi was too ill to attend.

The prosecutor claims the track banking was responsible for the fact that Senna couldn't brake properly. Racing director Bruynseraede strongly denied this and said no driver had ever complained. Bendinelli also stated that the FIA had not found anything wrong with the track.

He said: "Critical situations were being created for the cars probably because of the abolition of the active suspensions. The FIA took remedial action with changes to the cars and also to the circuits -- especially the faster ones."

Michele Alboreto had strated that there was too much play in the steering wheel, seen on film. Coulthard has stated however that this was normal, but the Scot has not been to the courtroom yet to testify.

Williams, Head and Newey will testify on October 3.

Ecclestone warns Europe

Bernie Ecclestone has again warned the European governments on the banning of tobacco ads. If this continues to be the case, Ecclestone warns, then he will seek circuits to race on in Asia. Malaysia and China for example are really interested.
