The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500 race, is expected to be announced as the next United States Grand Prix venue, as of the year 2000 Formula One season.

IMS president, Tony George, has called a press conference on this matter in the coming Wednesday, where he is expected to announce his agreement with the FOA and FIA on hosting the US Formula One World Championship Grand Prix. George has met several times in the last year with Bernie Ecclestone and IMS' proposal was speculated to be the most likely accepted by the FIA. According to reports in the American press, George proposed a multi-year commitment with an investment of $25 million, which includes building a road course in and around the existing 2.5-mile oval track.

The last Formula One US Grand Prix was the Phoenix race in 1991. For more information regarding the US Grand Prix, read Atlas F1's special US GP issue, dated October 7th 1998.
