McLaren is trying to solve the problems they had last weekend. They are still looking strong with David Coulthard being the fastest man on the track.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen tested the new evolution of the Mecachrome motor, which is going to be used in Magny-Cours. He was second fastest.

Eddie Irvine tested for Ferrari and used the F300 fitted with a laser precision height measuring system, to see what the distance to the track was in preparation for the British Grand Prix. He was third fastest.
