Ferrari finished today its last day of testing on the Fiorano track, bringing an end the most extensive testing session Ferrari has ever held during a Formula One season.

Michael Schumacher drove a total of 1,200 kms over the period of three days, with tests running as late as 22:00 CET.

Schumacher tested various components that will be used in the coming Grands Prix, including new brakes, electronics and tyres. "We have found some things to improve on", Schumacher said, "and in past few days we have made some small steps forward. For Hungary it looks pretty good"

Schumacher also tested new tyres developed especially for Ferrari, by Goodyear, to be used in Monza and Spa. Tony Shakespeare, Goodyear racing manager, who visited the Fiorano track during the tests, said: "We are doing everything to help Michael get the championship".

There were no technical problems during the tests, which made the Italian team rather happy, as reports came through of the seven Mercedes engines which blew during McLaren's tests in Jerez.
