On the final day of testing at Monza, Ferrari's Eddie Irvine was again the fastest man, with barely 0.082s separating him from McLaren's David Coulthard. Testing began today with rain pouring down. Only a few drivers came out, testing wet weather tyres, amongst them Coulthard, Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher. Later in the afternoon, when the track dried up, the other drivers rejoined. Like yesterday, Coulthard was the driver to do the most laps - 83 overall.
