Ferrari resumes testing at Mugello and tests at Magny-Cours

After winning the Italian Grand Prix a couple of days ago, The Ferrari team resumed testing at the Mugello track. Eddie Irvine began testing at 11 o'clock and Michael Schumacher joined in early in the afternoon. After making a few set-up changes to his car, Schumacher worked mainly on tyre testing for the next race. He did a total of 81 laps. Irvine did 56 laps while concentrating on his car's set-up.

At the end of the day, Irvine was fastest having set a lap time of 1:27.626s, and Schumacher setting a time of 1:27.749s.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, both Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine will continue testing at Mugello.

Ricardo Zonta at Magny-Cours replaced Mika Hakkinen. Zonta explained that Hakkinen needed a break from testing and was at home in Monaco. McLaren was testing a new evolution and engine and aerodynamic solution.

Stephane Sarazin got to test for the Prost team and he was fifth fastest, while Jörg Müller was the fastest for Sauber.
