Stewart's driver Johnny Herbert, was the highlight of the day, with the second fastest time. Only reining World Champion Mika Hakkinen could out class him, with his McLaren MP4-13 ( 98 Car). Giancarlo Fisichella had an engine failure in the morning.

Fiorano

Fifty more laps for Michael Schumacher and his new F399 today at the Fiorano circuit. After 11 laps on a dry track the German drove on the wet because of the falling rain. Best laptimes: 1.02.690 and 1.10.445. No mechanical problems on the car. Testing will continue tomorrow at Fiorano with Schumacher and with Eddie Irvine driving an F300.
