Ricardo Zonta The BAR team has announced that Ricardo Zonta is recovering well from his injuries, which were the result of a crash during free practise for the Brazilian Grand Prix. It is, however, not sure if he will be fit for the next Grand Prix at San Marino. The team have now contacted Mika Salo to be his replacement if Zonta is not able to drive.

"We're extremely pleased that Ricardo is making such a rapid recovery," said British American Racing Managing Director, Craig Pollock. "We are now just waiting to hear what the doctors have to say about a likely date for his return to the cockpit. In the event he is unable to drive in the San Marino Grand Prix, however, we have arranged for Mika Salo to step in. Certainly, if enthusiasm and determination are anything to go by, Ricardo will be back behind the wheel again very quickly."

"The last two days have been good for me, especially as I have managed to sleep well despite the cast," Zonta reported. "I went to the hospital Thursday morning and the doctor says I am recuperating well. I had an x-ray and everything looks fine, but I'll know more on Monday when the cast comes off. I've been building a radio-controlled model car and playing video games to keep myself occupied, but I'm looking forward to being back on my feet."
