Because of the unfortunate death of Harvey Postlethwaite, speculation arose regarding a halt in Honda Racing Development's Formula One program. There is not an obvious replacement for Postlethwaite as Project Manager, who was in an fundamental position of management between HRD in the United Kingdom and Honda's headquarters in Japan.

However, Rupert Manwaring, Director of Honda Racing Development, stated that they are determined to continue the project now more than ever as tribute to Postlethwaite. "We are absolutely flat out here. All the emotion is being converted into a determination to keep going," said Manwaring. "Losing Harvey is tragic and of course we are shocked and upset, but he and I put together a fine team, so there are no problems continuing as we are for now."

HRD cancelled further planned testing at Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. However, they will resume May 5th in France at Lurcy-Levis where further testing of the Honda chassis and engine will take place. Honda corporate bosses will decide whether to run a full team or only supply engines to existing teams by the end of this year after analysis of cost and performance are made.
