Ferrari

Eddie Irvine, todayEddie Irvine: "I only made one mistake and I was pleased with myself up until then. I am pretty happy with the car. We made some good set-up changes at first, followed by some bad ones and finally another good one. My last lap should have been my best but I used too much of the kerb at one point. I had no problem with the brakes, but on this track you must always check the wear rate very carefully. The tyres worked well, but as usual here, the track was very dirty this morning and improved lap by lap."

Michael Schumacher: "I am quite happy with the work we did today. The car?s handling was pretty good right from the start of practice. Furthermore, we managed to make further improvements to the set-up. The only little problem was that the track was a bit slippery in the morning as this is not a permanent race circuit. But the situation improved as more rubber was put down. Tomorrow we will use the 048B engine for the first time in qualifying. I expect we will be very competitive in qualifying and in the race, as this circuit suits our car."

Jean Todt: "We worked on different programmes with the two cars. Both drivers were reasonably satisfied with their set-up. We tried new brake cooling ducts as this circuit is very tough on brakes. Tomorrow we will use a different engine specification, the 048B on both cars. The main changes on this unit are its weight and power."

McLaren

David Coulthard: "No real problems today as I worked on race set-up. I will be concentrating on a good qualifying session for tomorrow."

Ron Dennis: "David and his engineers worked progressively to improve the car and they did a very good job which is reflected in his times. Mika's day was frustrating; he had a spin in the morning which was the result of a poor chassis balance. Towards the end of practice we found a better direction but never got a clear lap."

Jean Alesi, todaySauber

Jean Alesi: "Today I enjoyed myself very much, maybe because it is my birthday. The car felt very good, even when we tried it in a number of different conditions I don?t know yet whether we have found the right one for tomorrow, but I?m optimistic because it felt good whatever we tried today. This afternoon I had a few adventures, but that?s because I really like this type of circuit, where you can work on the limit and overstep it at times without risking damage."

Benetton

Giancarlo Fisichella: "This is a big step forward from Barcelona. We tried some different modifications throughout practice that seemed to take us in the right direction. The car is still suffering from some understeer and we need to improve the grip level as well. However I am satisfied as I only used one set of tyres and ran with quite a heavy fuel load."

Giancarlo Fisichella, todayBAR

Ricardo Zonta: "In the morning, I suffered badly from lack of grip, with oversteer under braking and wheelspin on the exits to the corners. I was lowering the revs on the gearchanges to try and counteract this. Another problem was that the brakes were overheating quite badly, and this also affected the handling. However, the team made some changes during the break and the car felt much better in the afternoon session, so that I was able to concentrate on learning the track and finding the right braking places, I?m pleased with my time and very happy to be back in the car."
