Saturday July 3rd, 1999 David Coulthard floats

In-between all Grand Prix' and testing development work there is still room for some fun. McLaren driver David Coulthard, with his car, and members of his team, has experienced weightlessness this weekend. The countdown started on the runway of the Moscow space center where Coulthard joked about becoming an astronaut and if he was able to keep his breakfast down, after which he boarded a Russian plane. The specially equipped plane is able to simulate space like conditions for thirty seconds at a time. Coulthard really enjoyed the little joyride and this was also the first time ever a car was brought into a weightless state.

Johnny Herbert had a wish come true when he took to the wheel of an F1 powerboat.
