Wirth Resigns from Benetton

Friday November 19th, 1999

Nick Wirth, the chief designer of the Benetton Formula One team, has resigned from the team. In a statement released today, Wirth cites differences with the team bosses on the future of the car's development, as the reason for his decision.

"After considerable discussions with both Rocco Benetton and the technical management, we have agreed that we have differing ideas as to the future direction of the car's development," Wirth explained. "I have therefore decided that the moment is opportune for me to leave Benetton Formula to pursue new career opportunities."

Wirth, who has been with Benetton for the past four years, will be replaced by Tim Densham, who joins the team from Honda.
