Todt and Brawn Comment on Ferrari's DQ

Sunday October 17th, 1999

Following the appeal launched by Ferrari against their disqualification from the Malaysian Grand Prix results, Jean Todt, Ferrari's team manager, said that, "The car was in exactly the same technical shape as it was in the last Grand Prix in Nurburgring, Germany, and this car has been scrutinised every day here."

Ferrari technical director, Ross Brawn, also added that the deflector panels - which were deemed illegal - had not given the team any unfair advantage. "The parts were used at Nurburgring. We are sure there was no performance benefit," he said. He also added that both Eddie Irvine and Michael Schumacher had been shocked by the ruling. "They are very upset, naturally," Brawn said.
