David Coulthard topped the times again on the Magny-Cours track. He was almost a second faster than his team-mate Mika Hakkinen, who clocked the fourth best time.

Once again, both Eddie Irvine and Mika Salo were testing for Ferrari on the Mugello track. The two driver worked on different technical programmes. The Finn worked mainly on setting up his car in the morning, before tackling a grand prix distance in the afternoon. He had to make one unscheduled stop, after going straight on into a gravel trap, but still went the distance. Salo completed 19 laps with a best time of 1m 28.011s. Eddie Irvine continued to test new mechanical and aerodynamic components. The Irish driver did 64 laps, the best being a 1m 27.198s.

Testing ran from 9 to 18.30 and both drivers continue testing tomorrow.
