Brabham Escapes Serious Crash

Monday September 20th, 1999

Three times World Champion Sir Jack Brabham luckily escaped serious injury after he crashed heavily yesterday at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, where the Glover Trophy race was held for Formula One and Tasman racing cars from the 1966-1969 period.

73 year old Brabham made contact with Jackie Oliver's car and was heavily slammed into the barriers. He was overwhelmed and remained in his car, allowing for speculations that he was seriously injured. He was taken immediately to a nearby hospital where he remained overnight for examinations. However, later today the doctors declared he had no major injuries.

Brabham won the Formula One world championships in 1959, 1960 and 1966.
