Coulthard Expect no Team Orders at Nurburgring

Tuesday September 21st, 1999

David Coulthard says he is still fighting for the World Championship and does not expect to get team orders from McLaren to help teammate Mika Hakkinen at the European Grand Prix this weekend.

"I am definitely in with a shout of the championship although it's an outside chance because I'm fighting with my team mate who holds a 12-point advantage over me," said Coulthard, who is 12 points behind championship leaders Hakkinen and Eddie Irvine. "Only if Mika finishes in front of me at the Nurburgring then I would expect some team orders to be introduced. All the fuss really amazes me because if you go back to the 60's, team orders were just as much a part of motor sport then."
