Prince Malik Departs

Friday September 24th, 1999

Arrows has announced today at the Nurburgring the departure of Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim from the team. Banking group Morgan Grenfell, which Malik brought with him to the team, will continue to own 40 percent of Arrows while Tom Walkinshaw has bought out Malik's 20 percent, thus giving him a controlling 60 percent of the team.

On the driver front, Olivier Panis was said today to have a good chance of joining Pedro de La Rosa, who stays on at Arrows next season with increased backing from Spanish oil company Repsol. Next year, Arrows will use Supertec engines. However, Walkinshaw is working on a deal to bring Nissan into F1 for 2001.
