The Prost Formula One team said on Monday they had signed a three-year deal to use Michelin tyres.
"We are confident that they will be very competitive from the start of the season," said team president and four times world champion Alain Prost in a statement.
Michelin are returning to Formula One next season, ending the previous monopoly of Japanese firm Bridgestone.
Prost had been expected to use Michelin despite fears expressed by the French manufacturer that the team's engine deal with Ferrari, who use Bridgestone tyres, might result in confidential information reaching their rivals.
Prost also said that next year's car would be a big improvement on this year's model, which ended the season with no points from the 17 races.
The team has still not named a second driver to partner Frenchman Jean Alesi next season but will test in Barcelona this week with their old Peugeot engines and several young drivers.
