Silverstone Testing - Day One

Thursday January 13th, 2000

Teams Jordan and Arrows commenced testing yesterday, at the British Silverstone track. Jordan team began its 2000 test programme with Andrew Gilbert-Scott behind the wheel of the Jordan Mugen-Honda 199. He completed 20 laps, concentrating on electronic testing.

Arrows took to the circuit for the first time this year when Mark Webber drove one of last year's A20 cars. The objective of the test was to continue the development of the new electronics systems that will be used on the A21.

Webber completed 13 laps over the course of the day while the team steadily worked through the planned program of software and setting changes. A gearbox problem was encountered in the morning due to the systems not being programmed for the prevailing damp conditions, however these were quickly remedied and changes made to allow the testing to continue.

Due to the damp and blustery weather conditions, no lap times were recorded during the day. Testing continues today.
