Silverstone Testing - Day One

Wednesday January 19th, 2000

Arrows and Jordan tested at Silverstone today in preparation for the upcoming season, working on reliability.

Mark Webber continued Arrows preparation for the 2000 race season by completing 25 laps of Silverstone's National circuit in cold but dry conditions.

Once again the focus of the test was the car electronics, with the new systems installed in last year's car. The electronics staff reported that progress was made on every run during the day, with all systems responding to changes as expected.

Meanwhile, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and the Jordan team completed a second day of testing with the EJ10, which will be launched on the 31st of January in London. The car completed 40 laps, including three long runs of 12 laps each.

Commenting on the day, Frentzen said, "These first days of testing are not about running flat out, but about checking the new items and systems on the car. I will not be making any judgements on the EJ10 until we run in Barcelona in early February. The important thing is that we are up and running and have not had any problems."

Both teams are scheduled to continue testing tomorrow, which is expected to be the final run for last year's Arrows A20 before testing with the Supertec powered A21 begins.
