De la Rosa Flying High

Friday January 21st, 2000

de la Rosa and the Qantas BoeingPedro de la Rosa was the only Formula One driver to attend an exclusive gathering today at Heathrow's Terminal 4 tarmac to witness the unveiling of a Qantas Boeing 747-400 aircraft, aptly named 'City of Melbourne', in the colours of the 2000 Australian Grand Prix to highlight the first FIA Formula One Championship race of the millennium. The flying artwork features a 22-metre long, 5.6-metre high generic image of a Formula One car, together with the vibrant Grand Prix racing flags in a diamond pattern.

Pedro, who managed to score his first point during his first race in Formula One at the Australian Grand Prix the previous year, met with Qantas executives and Australian Grand Prix organisers, conducted television interviews and rubbed shoulders and had his picture taken with Sir Stirling Moss and the Australian Grand Prix Girls.

The Arrows team secured one of its showcars for this occasion which provided the perfect support image for this very creative project.
