Hakkinen Fastest at Monza Testing - Day Two

Thursday June 8th, 2000

Reigning World Champion Mika Hakkinen set the fastest time of the second day of testing at Monza, and his first day of the session. The Finn set a time of 1:24.518, 0.25s faster than Rubens Barrichello's time the previous day.

Second fastest was Sauber's Pedro Diniz, ahead of Jordan's Jarno Trulli and Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello.

During the session BAR's Ricardo Zonta crashed heavily against the barriers, escaping injury but totally wrecking his car. The crash, at almost 300 km/h, happened at the Parabolica corner, where Zonta lost control of the car after his suspension failed.
