Verstappen Treated for Neck Injury after Testing Accident

Friday June 23rd, 2000

Jos Verstappen is being treated to the neck and back, after he sustained strains in those areas in an accident two days ago at Magny Cours testing.

Arrows reported today that Verstappen has been resting at his home and is being treated by a physiotherapist. The team confirmed that he will take part in the French Grand Prix.

"I'm doing okay - better than expected," the Dutch said. "My neck injuries were not as bad as we thought, and I've had a lot of time with the physiotherapist every day. My neck and back are still a little bit stiff and sore, but I'll definitely be back in the car for the French Grand Prix at Magny Cours."

Arrows' team Physiotherapist and Trainer, Simon Jones, has spent the last few days with Jos, and said, "It was a very nasty shunt that resulted in muscle damage to Jos' neck, but he has responded incredibly well to treatment. I've worked constantly with him over the last 48 hours and will return to his home again next week prior to Magny Cours for a check-up, further treatment and training sessions."
