Formula One rookie Juan Pablo Montoya has said that world champion Michael Schumacher is not his hero or idol because if he was he would not have passed him so spectacularly in Brazil.
Speaking before his fifth race of the season in Spain, Colombian Montoya indicated that Schumacher - three-time world champion - is just another driver on the grid and said the late Ayrton Senna is his only hero.
"It was just like passing anybody else when I passed Michael Schumacher in Brazil," said Montoya. "He was never really my idol or my hero even though he is a hero in modern Formula One to a lot of people.
"My idol and my only one was Ayrton Senna, big time really. If Schumacher had been a hero of mine I possibly would have thought of not passing him in Brazil."
Montoya also praised the performance of his BMW-Williams team so far this season and said he has no regrets that his team mate Ralf Schumacher secured their first win, despite being very close to winning himself at the Brazilian Grand Prix two weeks earlier.
"People keep asking me if I am disappointed that Ralf got the first win for the team but honestly I am not. It is just fantastic for the team to win a race.
"I always knew this team had so much potential. I knew that a race win would come soon because we have been going well this season."
