Rift with Prost Began at Silverstone, Says Alesi

Wednesday August 8th, 2001

Jean Alesi admitted today that his his rift with Prost Grand Prix began before even before Heinz Harald Frentzen was fired from Jordan, saying he had wanted to leave Prost since the British Grand Prix last month.

"Things really didn't go the way I expected at Prost," said Alesi. "There's no need to dwell on the subject, but on the Monday after Silverstone I received a letter from Alain [Prost]'s solicitor which really upset me.

"After that, all I wanted was to leave, but I never for a moment thought I'd find another seat so quickly and as of Budapest, I'll have a car which is capable of being on the podium."

Alesi will shake down the EJ11 on Monday at Silverstone.
