Coulthard Calls for Changes after Practice Shunt

Friday August 17th, 2001

David Coulthard checks his car after today's accidentMcLaren driver David Coulthard warned Hungarian Grand Prix organisers that modifications must be made to the kerbing at the Hungaroring after his accident in opening practice on Friday.

Coulthard damaged his car when he slid off at turn 12 and the incident resulted in the session being temporarily halted. The Scot has urged track officials to make changes to the kerbing ahead of Sunday's race after the rear of his car was destroyed in the accident.

"The kerbs are the same on the outside as they are on the inside," said Coulthard today. "They are too solid. Ferrari has been up there (with the Stewards) complaining as well, and they have not had the damage that we have had.

"So I would say that they will make changes to the kerbs before the race."
