Finn Mika Hakkinen set a blistering pace at the Silverstone circuit to top the timesheets on the second and final day of testing at the British track.
The two-time World Champion, who completed 56 laps, was nearly three tenths of a second quicker than this year's previous best time in testing at the British circuit, finishing nearly a second ahead of Eddie Irvine.
The Ulsterman was the fastest of the Jaguar trio, with Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa posting the fourth quickest time behind McLaren's test driver Alexander Wurz.
The Arrows team continued working with their two drivers, Dutchman Jos Verstappen finishing right in front of Brazilian teammate Enrique Bernoldi. Verstappen and Bernoldi focused on software developments and new components for next year, also carrying out a number of brake and suspension tests.
"It was a slightly frustrating day in a way as we couldn't complete the mileage we had hoped, but component wise, it was quite successful," said Arrows' chief engineer Graham Taylor. "The parts that we put on the car gathered us valuable data which already looks very positive for next year."
German Formula Three star Andre Lotterer was again behind the wheel of the third Jaguar, setting the slowest time of the day after 46 laps.
