BAR Appoint Former Minister

Thursday February 1st, 2001

British American Racing have announced that British member of parliament Kenneth Clarke is their new independent non-executive chairman.

Clarke, who is a former Chancellor of the Exchequer, has succeeded Don Brown as chairman, but Brown will remain on the board as a non-executive director and deputy chairman.

Clarke will join a board that already contains Nick Brookes, Jerry Forsyth, Antonio Monteiro de Castro, Jimmi Rembiszewski and team founders Adrian Reynard and Craig Pollock.

Pollock, who the managing director of BAR, is delighted with Clarke's appointment, "We are fortunate indeed to have Ken as our new chairman.

"His experience speaks for itself and he is an enthusiastic follower of Formula One, as well as being a long standing member of the British Racing Drivers' Club.

"The board is looking forward to working with Ken every bit as much as we are to the 2001 season."
