Schumacher Makes Positive Return to Testing

Tuesday February 6th, 2001

It was business as usual for world champion Michael Schumacher on Tuesday as he completed a full days testing of Ferrari's new F2001 car at the Mugello circuit.

Schumacher was hindered in testing on Monday when a problem with the engine's injection system restricted the German driver to just six laps around Mugello.

On Tuesday, Schumacher completed 74 laps with a best time of one minute and 24.657 seconds and he was pleased with the work completed on developing the Italian team's new car.

Schumacher said: "We tried different set-ups in order to gather data on how the car reacts.

"We were not trying to set quick times. Our main aim was data acquisition. We had some problems with the fuel feed system, which have now been resolved. These things happen at this point in the season."

Schumacher will continue testing at Mugello on Wednesday.
