Barrichello Gets his First Run in 2001 Ferrari

Friday February 9th, 2001

Rubens Barrichello made his first run in Ferrari's new F2001 car on Friday during testing at the Mugello circuit and expressed mixed feelings about this season's challenger.

Brazilian Barrichello said that the car handled well in the wet conditions at the Italian circuit, but he was less impressed with the technical changes that have been made to the car to comply with FIA regulations for the 2001 season.

"The first impressions are good," said Barrichello. "The car seems very stable in the fast corners and handles well in the wet.

"But compared with last year it might seem a little bit harder to drive because of the changes in the technical regulations."

It was the fifth day of Ferrari's test at the circuit, and Barrichello clocked a time of 1:32.656. The team plans to run longer stints in Saturday's test if the weather improves.
