Villeneuve Goes Quickest at Kyalami

Monday February 12th, 2001

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve completed a total of 89 laps to finish on top on the fourth day of testing at the South African circuit of Kyalami on Sunday.

The 1997 World Champion drove the new Bridgestone-shod BAR-Honda 003 to the top of the time sheets, in front of Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya who, on his fourth day at the track, was able to lap faster than teammate Ralf Schumacher.

Both Williams drivers were at the wheel of the new BMW-powered FW23 on Michelin rubber.

The six-day session at Kyalami continues on Monday.
