European Minardi's new boss Paul Stoddart has said that there will be no disgrace in his team being lapped time and time again this season.
Minardi were often at the back of the grid last season and were soon lapped by the leading drivers. Stoddart does not see that changing in 2001.
"I see no disgrace in being lapped," said Stoddart. "Many cars are lapped many times in a race. If everyone had the budget of the best teams, racing would be a lot closer."
A big budget is something the Australian team boss can only dream of having as he prepares for his first season in Formula One.
"We don't have the resources and we're not expecting to have them in the short term," he said. "But I know what it takes, and we will bring investment to move us up a level."
