De la Rosa Sets Impressive Pace at Estoril

Tuesday February 13th, 2001

Pedro de la Rosa, today at EstorilProst Grand Prix's new test driver Pedro de la Rosa set an impressive pace on the sixth day of testing at the Estoril circuit, in only his second run with the French team.

The Spanish driver, who tested the Ferrari-powered AP04 for the first time on Sunday, was nearly two seconds faster than Prost's racing driver Gaston Mazzacane after 98 laps at the Portuguese track.

Mazzacane, surprisingly fastest on Sunday, could not repeat his feat, yet he ended the session in front of the only Benetton at the track.

Jenson Button continued testing the unreliable B201 at Estoril, focussing on set-up work and began some brake testing before an engine-related problem brought the day's testing to an early finish.
