Schumacher Continues Working at Mugello

Saturday February 17th, 2001

World Champion Michael Schumacher continued working with the Ferrari team for the second consecutive day at the Mugello circuit in Italy.

Schumacher, who on Friday shook down the second F2001 chassis without any problems, lost three hours of track time today after a mechanical failure forced him to come into the pits for repairs.

However, the German was happy with the day's work after 45 laps with a best time of 1:23.780.

"I am very happy with what we did today," Schumacher said. "Despite the one stoppage, the results of the work we did were satisfying."

Also present at the Italian circuit today was the Sauber team, with Finn Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel of the Ferrari-powered C20. The young driver completed 40 laps with a best time of 1:24.218.

Testing at Mugello will continue on Sunday, with Brazilian Rubens Barrichello replacing Michael Schumacher.
