Heidfeld Sets New Record at Mugello

Sunday February 18th, 2001

The Swiss Sauber team continued working at Mugello on Sunday, with German Nick Heidfeld taking over from teammate Kimi Raikkonen, driving the C20 chassis and setting the fastest time of the session.

Heidfeld completed 77 laps with a best time of 1:23.364, a new track record, with the Ferrari-powered car.

Meanwhile, Rubens Barrichello replaced teammate Michael Schumacher at the wheel of the second Ferrari F2001 today, as the team continued they preparations for the new season.

The Brazilian driver carried out a race simulation, completing a total of 84 laps around the Italian track, with a best time of 1:24.079. He was pleased with the results.

"I am happy with the way development work has gone up to today," said Barrichello after covering 440 km.

Both Ferrari drivers will continued working on Monday.
