Villeneuve Willing to Fight Schumacher Again

Monday February 19th, 2001

BAR driver Jacques Villeneuve has admitted he would like to have a head to head fight with reigning world champion Michael Schumacher again.

The Canadian driver, who will start his third consecutive season with the Brackley-based team this year, already battled with the Ferrari star back in 1997, when they fought for the championship until the last round, with Villeneuve taking the title.

Despite being willing to fight with Schumacher again, Villeneuve also admitted he wants to do it with equal equipment, and that it would be a mistake joining Ferrari as his teammate.

"I'd like to have a direct comparison to see which one of us is better," Villeneuve said.

"But I reckon it would be stupid for me to go to Maranello at this stage, in a team that's built around Schumacher. We'll see."
