Arrows Sign New Head of Aerodynamics

Tuesday February 20th, 2001

The Arrows team has signed Italian aerodynamicist Nicolo Petrucci to replace Eghbal Hamidy, who left the Leafield-based team to join Jordan as technical director last month.

Petrucci, a former Ferrari employee, is to become Arrows' chief aerodynamicist, and according to the team's technical director Mike Coughlan, the Italian was his first choice even before signing Hamidy.

"Eghbal was very good, but he had an opportunity that was too good to pass up," Coughlan told Motoring News.

"So when he said he was going, I contacted Nicolo, who was actually my preferred choice before Eghbal, but previously wanted to stay at Ferrari to win a world championship."
