Williams driver Ralf Schumacher is confident he can snatch the runner-up position of the 2001 World Championship, following his latest win at the German Grand Prix.
The German driver trails second-placed David Coulthard by six points, with five more races to go. He is also ahead of Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello by one point.
"There's a good chance for me to take second place in the World Championship, especially after this weekend," the young Schumacher told Atlas F1. "McLaren, especially David, seem to be in a little bit of a problem at the moment, and we should be able to make use out of it. That should be our goal now."
Both Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head, however, lowered their driver's expectations, saying they will continue taking strides one race at a time. "I know Ralf is anxious [to take that position]," Williams said, "But I won't rule out McLaren and Bridgestone making a recovery."
Head also added that the upcoming race at Hungary should suit their rivals better than the Williams-BMW combination. "We will just have to wait and see," he said. "But I'm not sure it's very important, to be honest."
