Pollock Worried about Honda Plans to Supply One Team

Friday June 8th, 2001

British American Racing boss Craig Pollock admitted he was slightly worried about the possibility that engine manufacturer Honda could decide to supply their power units to only one team next season.

There have been constant rumours around the paddock claiming that the Japanese manufacturer, who currently supplies engines to both BAR and Jordan, will only concentrate on one of the teams in a near future, causing the "Honda war" to intensify this season.

Pollock admitted on the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix, both his team and Jordan should be worried, though he said BAR's contract expires at the end of next year.

"I think both teams should be slightly worried about it but no, they haven't said anything specifically to me on that subject and obviously they have a binding contract. Until at least the end of next year," said Pollock. "I haven't asked Jordan how long their contract is, or Honda."

Honda returned to Formula One last season, supplying engines exclusively to BAR, but decided to provide also to Jordan this year.
