Ralf Hoping to Avoid Start Chaos

Saturday June 9th, 2001

Ralf Schumacher, todayRalf Schumacher is confident he and his brother Michael will avoid a first corner crash at Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix as they start from the front row of the grid.

The first turn at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve could be the scene of crashes as the field converges on it on the first lap, but Schumacher, who qualified second in his Williams behind pole-sitter Michael's Ferrari, is sure he will avoid any problems.

He said: "It's a tricky corner but not really for the first two rows. I guess with us three (the Schumacher brothers and David Coulthard) and Jarno (Trulli) in the front we are quite sensible.

"It can always happen but obviously we try to avoid it because we all know the race is more than just one corner and we all need the points."
