Ralf Will Bury Me One Day, Says Schumacher

Wednesday June 20th, 2001

Ferrari star Michael Schumacher believes his younger brother Ralf will soon become world champion, and thinks the Williams driver will be his most dangerous rival.

"If he continues like that, he will become world champion at some stage," the older Schumacher told Suedeutsche Zeitung.

Ralf, who will turn 26 on June 30, has scored two dominant victories so far this season, clearly beating Michael at the Canadian Grand Prix ten days ago. The world championship leader, 36 points ahead of his younger brother in the standings, also said he believed Ralf was better than his Colombian teammate Juan Pablo Montoya.

"Montoya was faster than Ralf in qualifying only once, and only just. If you look at the lap times, he never had a chance against Ralf in a race," Schumacher said.

"If you ask me who's going to bury me one day, I'd say Ralf, not Montoya."
