Panis Still Aiming for Third in Constructors' Race

Tuesday June 26th, 2001

British American Racing's Olivier Panis has expressed his delight with his current form in the team as he said the outfit are still aiming for third in the Constructors' Championship.

Frenchman Panis said, currently in twelve place in the standings having scored five points, he has a good relationship with team-mate Jacques Villeneuve and that both men are aiming to improve the BAR team.

"I have a very good relationship with Jacques," said Panis. "Sometimes I'm in front of him, sometimes he's in front of me, but it's very good. I think we have some delay for the Honda improvement but I think we have the engine for maybe the German Grand Prix, maybe Hungary. In general we have a good car everywhere.

"I think to fight for third place in the championship this year is not very easy because Williams is really, really strong at this moment but we need to keep this target and work hard. Third is possible but really, really difficult, but fourth is probably realistic."

The Williams team, in third place in the championship, has scored 37 points so far to BAR's 12.
