Frentzen Vows to Keep on Working

Wednesday June 27th, 2001

Jordan driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen has reiterated his will to win after assurances from the team that he will not quit the sport and will stay with them one more year.

The Jordan team took the unprecedented step of issuing a press release at the European Grand Prix to state that Frentzen was not leaving their outfit, after rumours in the paddock at the Nurburgring had linked him with a switch to Toyota, who will join the field next season.

German Frentzen has strengthened the case by stating that he is happy at Jordan, gets on well with his teammate Jarno Trulli, and added he will continue working hard to succeed.

"My relationship with Jarno is good," said Frentzen. "We are not sharing a room together but we are trying to beat each other. He's certainly doing a good job - at least in qualifying.

"I do my best to cope with the situation. I am not 100 percent happy with how the car is balanced right now and I do my best to work with the circumstances I have got. But I am not in a situation where I am thinking about my retirement. I am just trying to fight as hard as possible."
