Mika Hakkinen is hoping for his past successes at the French Grand Prix to continue and allow him to build up his championship momentum.
Finnish double world champion Hakkinen had a torrid time at the start of the season, and although he has scored points in four out of the nine races so far this season, he has only once appeared on the podium. But Hakkinen is now looking for more points this weekend, and said: "I have finished in the points in four out of the last six French Grands Prix, and I am hoping to continue the consistency this year."
However, the only consistency Hakkinen has had this year is in unreliability, but the McLaren driver has denied that a slump in confidence was setting in.
"It's not that complicated to motivate myself at times when it doesn't look so good and at times when there is a lot of disappointment," said Hakkinen. "You just have to find the inner strength and decide yourself do you want to win or not. And when you know you want to win, then it is quite easy."
