Schumacher Settles Helmet Row

Wednesday March 14th, 2001

World Champion Michael Schumacher and Sports Europe - distributor of the Bell helmets - have reached an agreement to settle their contract dispute, it was announced today.

Schumacher had lost a legal battle against Sports Europe, and a Belgian court had ruled in favour of the firm, who had claimed that the German star had not respected his contract, wearing a different helmet during a testing session at Barcelona.

Schumacher was forced to wear the Bell helmet during this year's Australian Grand Prix or pay a fine of $120,000 per day.

However, both parties have now reached an agreement and the German star will be free to use his new Schuberth helmet at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
